What If Learning Could Feel Like Play?
The Potato Lesson is a complete 5-day nature-based learning adventure that brings science, art, math, and hands-on discovery right to your home.
Your child becomes a scientist,
gardener, artist, chef, and engineer
— all through exploring one humble potato.
Here's What Happens Each Day:
✅ Monday: The Potato Life Cycle
Your child discovers how potatoes grow from tiny sprout to harvest — through a fun cut-and-paste sequencing activity that builds early math skills.
✅ Tuesday: Parts of a Potato Plant/The Great Potato Journey
They learn what happens above and below the soil, labeling roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and tubers on a colorful diagram.
✅ Wednesday: Color the Potato Plant
Art meets science as they bring Payo the Potato to life with colors, reinforcing where potatoes actually grow.
✅ Thursday: Mashed Potato Nuggets
Cooking time! Your child measures, mixes, shapes, and (with your help) cooks delicious potato nuggets — while learning about transformation, counting, and textures.
✅ Friday: Potato Builders
Engineering challenge! Using potatoes and toothpicks, they design shapes, towers, and structures — discovering balance, stability, and problem-solving.

About Jordan's Garden
Empower Your Students with Hands-On Learning
Jordan’s Garden is a movement to redefine how we educate, engage, and empower through nature. Our garden-based education program was created to support teachers who want to shift from traditional classroom models into a more dynamic, outdoor, and sensory-rich learning environment.
Over the past few years, we’ve worked with multiple schools and community groups to integrate sustainable urban agriculture, science, natural dietary, and emotional development into everyday instruction. Our program is rooted in the belief that children learn best through hands-on experience, inquiry-based learning, and meaningful relationships with their environment.
